From the Archives .... The Education Officers

- Danny C. Fawcus. Recruited  By the Colony of Aden as an Education Danny FawcusOfficer on July 31st,1952. He is a B.A. graduate from Durham University. He taught geography and served as Vice Principal and later in the 1960s appointed Principal of Aden College. He was one of the longest serving British teachers in the history of Aden College.

- Ibrahim Robleh. Recruited on July 22nd, 1946. He was a B.A. graduate Ibrahim Roblehfrom the American University of Beirut, Lebanon. Served for many years as Vice Principal and Acting Principal, but never became a Principal of Aden College.

- S.R.L. Miller. Recruited on January 2nd, 1953 as Education Officer and Millertaught chemistry. He was a B.Sc. graduate from Belfast, Northern Ireland.

- D. Petrie. Recruited on August 29th, 1955 as an Education Officer. He is an M.A. graduate from the University of Edinburgh. He Petrietaught geography and his wife served as Principal of the Girl's college.

- H.N. McNeill. Recruited on August 29th, 1955 as an Education MacNeilOfficer. He is a B.A. graduate from Cantab. University. He taught English literaure.

The website managed to acquire and obtain permission for copyright to publish original photos of Aden College under construction in the 50s.

Under the Spotlight.... Abubaker Qutti

Abdulla Uqba,
‘‘Al Qutti is an Aden College alumnus. I believe he was  in the same year as we were. But Qutti I rAbubaker-Quttiemember vividly. He popped up on several occasions in the sixties and our roads crossed several times. He was (is) a delightful character. He participate  in the Geneva Talks for independence in November 1967.’’

Shihab Ghanem, ‘‘ If my memory is right Mr. Qutti was one year behind me. He was in the same class as Mr abdulla Uqba. He was with me in Tariqiyah college team. In 1970-72. He was with me on the Board of Directors of the Electricity Public Authority. The Chairman of the Board was Mr. Faisal Bin Shamlan. Both were very decent persons.’’

Ashraf Girgrah, ‘‘ Al Qutti was in our class group. He was a boarder from Western Protectrate. He was a deligent  ‘book warm’. Excelled in studies and track and
field. His legs were long as a Cheetah. His knees extended inwards which enabled him to run fast and win long distance races !!! Well mannered and polite. The ideal college student !’’

In memory ...
The humane aspect of the late teacher Mohamed Nazir is described by his son alumnus Anis Nazir in an account of his father’s teaching career,  recognition awards, and hobby !!!!
